Recently, someone on last.fm told me Pram will be releasing a new album soon. Which of course is great ! And we can expect that they will be touring again soon, which would be great too. I will buy the album, and will probably go to the show, and be happy to see them again. But something will be different, as I won't update the superchouette website anymore. I still like Pram, I still listen to their albums as often as I can, but well, I am tired of doing websites.
I can remember the first time I heard Pram playing on my stereo. It was in the summer of '94, after Too Pure had sent me their album Helium as a promo item for my fanzine. I listened to the record, but the first few times, even if I liked it, I wasn't very impressed. A few months later, they supported Stereolab at a show in Paris, and it was... magic ! I got lots of pleasure listening to the band during this show. And, I must admit, I fell in love to their music. It changed my life in a way I can't still realise. Helium became my favourite album of all time, and today, it's still enjoyable to me to listen to this record. And for the past 12 years, it is in my all time top 3 records, with a Crescent and a Stereolab record.
Since december 1994, I bought every record, and maybe saw Pram playing live a few times, something like 6 or 7 times, I can't remember. I organised tours in France for them, did interviews, and spent time playing their records to friends, with more or less success. I would've done all i could to help them, as I did the same at some point for Crescent or Movietone. Of course, I met them a few times, but as my english is very bad, it was quite impossible to communicate in a good way, which always made me sad. But I always tried to help them, which is why I created the Superchouette website. I dreamt at a time to be able to create the official website, but Pram never responded to my request at the time.
Through the website, I go to meet Rosie's boyfriend Tom who is a really wonderful guy, and Darren, the really crazy drummer who played for my first Pram show in Paris and who made me often dream of becoming a drummer...
But...
Last year, I closed my webzine as I never found people to help me. It made me sick of making websites. And if I'll always love Pram, today, I am tired of trying to make a website as a tribute to their music. So, today, I've decided to close the website.
But, if by any chance, someone wants to continue the superchouette website, please, contact me to get all the code, and data. I will be very pleased to give it to you if it can help Pram...
Thanks to Pram for their music, to Too Pure and to Domino for the promotional items, to Tom and Darren for their help, and to anyone that contacted me over the past with any information.
Love, Pascal.
